Classic and Romantic Wedding at a Portland, Oregon Country Club

Romantic and classic is a perfect style for an outdoor country club wedding, like Arthur and Rachel’s wedding last summer at the Rock Creek Country Club in Portland, Oregon.  This wedding was beautifully captured by the talented wedding photographer Lauren Zavaletta.  Every stunning detail of this wedding had the timeless style that transcends trends and remains elegant and beautiful.  The soft pale floral palette and the sophisticated and sharply dressed attire of the wedding party were a few of my favorite details of this romantic and classic country club wedding.

Wedding florals are an important aspect in creating the style and theme of any wedding, and the florals of this wedding did just that.  A soft, neutral floral palette of cream, ivory, and white with sage colored greenery set the tone for the classic wedding.  Rich textures of the lush florals and greenery also provided a romantic feel to the wedding day.  The bouquets and most of the floral arrangements throughout the wedding included classic wedding flowers like ivory colored Vendella roses, cream colored dahlias, classic white ranunculus, and white hydrangea.  The bouquets also included seeded and silver dollar eucalyptus that provided a romantic touch in color and texture.  Bridesmaids wore dark slate gray dresses that contrasted perfectly with the white and soft green hues of the bridesmaid bouquets.

Ceremony decor for this stunning outdoor country club wedding included florals, greenery, and white chiffon drapery designed on the venue’s classic white wooden wedding arbor.  This wedding was the first time I had the opportunity to play with Southern Smilax, a Pinterest – popular greenery among wedding florists!  Southern Smilax looks delicate, but has very hearty, strong elongated vines in various lengths that are perfect addition to wedding arbors and other tall wedding installations!

Another area of ceremony decor were small bundles of eucalyptus tied to white chairs along the aisle, providing a hint of northwest organic style in just the right amount to keep the ceremony simple and classic.  At the head of the aisle stood two large, black, standing urns with large classic ceremony arrangements in the wedding’s palette of white and trailing greenery, which was the perfect romantic and classic addition to welcome guests and complete the ceremony area.

The entrance to the large white reception tent supported a floral and greenery installation of hydrangea, roses, eucalyptus, and did you guess it?! ~ Southern Smilax!  The tent walls were also donned with drapery tied together with ivory colored ribbon and bunches of eucalyptus greenery at every support pole.

Cocktail tables were arranged on the grass outside the tent and were covered with classic white linens, gathered together below the table to suspend strands of draping silver dollar eucalyptus, adding more of the lush and romantic details congruent to this outdoor Oregon country club wedding.

Inside the large white tent were more details bringing more of the classic and romantic feel of the wedding.  Gold chairs and gold chargers elegantly decorated classic white table linens at each guest table.  Centerpieces were designed in golden glass floral urns that created a romantic, elegant, and almost vintage look that was perfect for the occasion.  Each centerpiece held a large “cafe au lait” dahlia, with their elegantly pale colored blooms in soft, blush pink and creamy beige, along with stock flowers, roses, and eucalyptus.  The layers of multiple dahlia petals and the lush greenery of the centerpieces gave the reception tables a classic, romantic feel.

Other ways the classic and romantic theme was captured beautifully were in the bride and groom’s little details, like her sparkly glitter keds, the touch of lace in her classically sophisticated veil and garter, and his sharp dress shoes, slate grey tie, and simple boutonniere of a single Vendella rose and seeded eucalyptus.  The simple and classic white tiered wedding cake with just the right touch of floral and greenery decor was also a classic and beautifully simple choice!

Congratulations Rachel and Arthur on your marriage and stunning wedding last summer!  Thank you for choosing Flowers by Alana for your wedding florals!  It was an honor to have your trust and an absolute pleasure getting to know you, and working with you to achieve your dream wedding!

One of my favorite weddings to design florals for in 2019 was this stunning forest wedding at the Summit Grove Lodge in Ridgefield, Washington.  The color palette was rose gold, mauve, ivory, blush, and sage green, which blended perfectly and elegantly with the rustic wooden lodge beams and lush green forest surroundings of the venue, and the small pieces of metallic rose gold accents throughout the wedding decor was the perfect touch.

Photographs were taken by the amazingly talented adventure wedding and elopement photographer Baylee Dennis, who did an incredible job capturing everything beautifully.  Follow her instagram and you’ll be swooning for days!

Rosycakes Bakery did a beautiful job with the cake and desserts.  The popular rustic look of the “naked” cake pairs so well with wooden rounds and the other wooden and forested accents of this rustic elegant wedding.  I added minimal sprigs of seeded eucalyptus and italian ruscus to the wedding cake for just the right amount of romantic, rustic and natural charm.  There’s something about naked cakes that I just can’t get enough of, and I’m so glad they are still trending at rustic weddings!

The rose gold and blush colors of the palette were brought into the bride’s gorgeous bridal bouquet with mauve “cafe latte” garden roses, blush David Austin garden roses called “Keira,”and blush colored ranunculus with pops of white “Bride to Be” dahlias.  The bridesmaid bouquets remained cream, white, and ivory in vendella roses, white stock flowers, and white dahlias.  Lush sage-colored silver dollar and seeded eucalyptus and italian ruscus gave the bridal party florals the lush romantic feel of the wedding’s forest theme.

The wedding venue Summit Grove Lodge is located in a thick forest not far off of interstate-5 in Ridgefield, Washington.  Five acres of beautiful, tranquil forest surround the stunning wooden lodge and lends itself to gorgeous photographic opportunities in its rustic and scenic beauty.  The outdoor portion of the venue is cleanly landscaped in stone, ferns, manicured lawn, and strongly flanked by a wooden gazebo structure which staged the outdoor wedding perfectly.  I had fun installing a simple greenery installation suspended from the gazebo entrance.

The wedding stationery was designed and printed by minted for the guest table numbers and the wedding invitations.  The signage was created by Painted Lilium.  I personally LOVE the trend of telling your guests your preference for an unplugged ceremony with a custom wooden sign in gorgeous calligraphy!

The stunning bridal gown and the bridesmaids dresses were from Allure Bridals, the men’s tuxedos was from The Black Tux, the talented Rachel Petey videographed the event, and hair and make up were done by the talented LUX Artistry Collective, based out of SW Washington.

I’d like to thank my cousin Elizabeth for referring my wedding flower company to her friends Jessica and Tyler.  I loved connecting with this beautiful couple, learning their love story, and helping them achieve their dream wedding vision with gorgeous flowers!
