Classic white weddings will always have my heart. There’s something so romantic and timeless about all white wedding flowers, and this vineyard chic wedding in classic white and olive green was really stunning. Denver and Zachary choose white and olive green as their wedding colors for their vineyard chic wedding, and hired Flowers by Alana after meeting me at a wedding open house at Heisen House Vineyards. I was so honored and thrilled to be their wedding florist. Since a white wedding palette never goes out of season or style, it wasn’t difficult to make changes when the couple had to change their wedding date, like so many other couples planning weddings in 2020.
I first met Denver and Zachary at a wedding open house at Heisen House Vineyards in the Spring of 2019, where I was asked to be a part of a wedding vendor team to design one of three staged wedding areas at the vineyard wedding venue. Denver and Zachary loved our staged area and they literally hired our entire team for their vineyard chic wedding. Our team consisted of wedding coordinator Shannon Huffman of Periwinkle Events NW, sign artist Miranda Schweitzer of This Lettered House, wedding cake and dessert baker Michelle Barnes of Tres Belle Desserts, wedding florist extraordinaire Flowers by Alana (c’est moi!), and of course the beautiful winery and vineyard wedding venue Heisen House Vineyards.
Heisen House Vineyards is located in Battle Ground, Washington, about a 40 minute drive from Downtown Portland. Its a beautiful scenic drive out in the country, not far from Battle Ground Lake State Park and near the East Fork Lewis River. I actually grew up not far from the venue, and driving that way brings back fond memories of living in the country surrounded by beautiful, natural scenery. The vineyard wedding venue houses an old historic barn that dates 120 years old, and pristine rows wine grapes grown by the owner and wine-maker Michelle Bloomquist, who hand-crafts delicious, unfiltered, low-sulfite wine. The wedding venue has several areas one could set the stage for a wedding ceremony or reception. Denver and Zachary’s original plan was to be married at the on-site gazebo with chairs for guests arranged in rows on the lawn, but the northwest weather had a different idea. Because of rain, the wedding ceremony location was changed to a white tent, within which the set up came out to be equally as beautiful.
Initially the couple wanted me to install two floral installations on the corners of the gazebo. With the last minute decision to move to inside a tent, I went to work finding a wooden altar structure to rent for the ceremony. One of the many benefits to hiring a professional wedding florist is the numerous connections we have to rent or borrow wedding altars or other supplies last minute. I found a beautiful wooden hexagon wedding arch that set the stage for the wedding ceremony inside the white tent. I designed a large floral altar installation of lush greenery and all white flowers on one section of the hexagon arbor. Flowers used were white hydrangea, roses and garden roses in white and ivory, white spray roses, Italian ruscus, and both silver dollar and seeded eucalyptus. I also lined their wedding aisle with loose white rose petals and added greenery and pops of white flowers to the wooden welcome sign by Timeless Bridal Accessories and around the guest book signing table and dessert table, which contained gorgeous wedding desserts by Tres Belle Desserts.
[easy-image-collage id=2330]For Denver’s bridal bouquet, I used white garden roses, creamy ivory vendela roses, and olive greenery. Her bouquet was wrapped in ivory satin ribbon and lace from her mother’s bridal veil. The rest of the bridal party carried bouquets made with white and ivory roses, white dahlias, and both seeded and silver dollar eucalyptus. The olive green bridesmaid dresses were dark olive and looked great against the sage green color of all the greenery. Denver’s bridal gown and all the bridesmaid dresses were from David’s Bridal.
Zachary and the groomsmen wore grey suits and olive green ties from Your Big Day, a wedding menswear shop in Camas, Washington. The men all wore boutonnieres I designed with a large white rose, seeded eucalyptus, and olive greenery. For the couple’s adorable toddler son, I designed a miniature boutonniere with a small spray rose and greenery.
