Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana and an amazing team of Oregon wedding professionals collaborated in Spring 2021 at the tulip fields on a vintage wedding styled shoot, that featured a hot air balloon! We are very excited to share that our vintage wedding shoot was published in both print and online by Oregon Bride Magazine! You can read the published magazine feature online in Let Love Soar, or hurry and pick up a copy of the current issue to see our lovely vintage wedding feature in print!
The transition from winter to spring is an exciting one ~ weather starts warming up and everyone seems to have a little more spring in their step, particularly in the pacific northwest after our wet and gloomy winters. We flower lovers particularly get excited about Spring because with it brings the first blooming flowers of the year! An annual pilgrimage many Oregon flower lovers prioritize is a visit to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm for the annual tulip festival! In nearly every direction, blankets of tulips in every color spread across several acres of the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, which is inspired by the incredible tulip fields of the Netherlands. Our vintage wedding styled shoot took place at the tulip fields during a particularly exciting time. Having to skip a year the previous season with the coronavirus pandemic, we were all very grateful and excited on the farm’s re-opening of the tulip festival!
The vintage wedding shoot’s vendor team reserved the hot air balloon from Portland Rose Balloons months in advanced in hopes to fly over the fields the morning of our vintage wedding styled shoot. We chose a soft and subtle pastel wedding palette for the florals and other decor elements in the vintage wedding shoot to contract both the bright, saturated colors of the tulip fields and our star attraction, the rainbow colored hot air balloon. Among our pastel palette were soft white, ivory, blush, and accents of pale blue. We chose the vintage wedding theme as the overall vibe of the styled shoot, weaving in elements of romance and timelessness that never go out of style, just like the decades-long history of the tulip fields.
Talented Washington elopement photographer Ashley Masters Photography led the vision of the vintage wedding styled shoot at the tulip fields, and Krystle Allen of Krystle Clear Events tied it all together with her extraordinary wedding planning and coordinating skills. Portland wedding photographer Emily Skye Photography was also on-site capturing the day with gorgeous wedding photos, but to avoid confusion, all the photos in this post are exclusively by Ashley Masters Photography.
Modeling for our vintage wedding styled shoot were two gorgeous professional models: Amber Nicotra and Montrase (Monty) Ward. Amber wore a lovely, long vintage-style bridal gown covered in lace, with delicate shoulder straps and layers of romantic ruffles, provided by the Portland bridal boutique Ania Bridal. Our bride carried a white and very pale blush pink bridal bouquet designed by Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana, in white ranunculus, blush sweet escimo roses, white anthurium, wax flower, silver dollar eucalyptus, and accents of dried and preserved florals for lacy texture. Monty wore neutral menswear with khaki pants, a white collared dress shirt, and donned a matching white and blush boutonniere designed by Flowers by Alana. Makeup and hair were done by the talented wedding makeup artist Morgan Nichols. Rings were crafted by the talented Portland-based wedding jeweler Allison of Ringed Portland, who is famous for her DIY wedding ring workshops where you and your fiancé can create your own wedding bands!
The day of the vintage wedding photoshoot was very windy and we were unfortunately unable to fly the hot air balloon into the air, but Portland Rose Balloons still inflated the hot air balloon and secured it horizontally along the ground so the photographers could capture some amazing wedding shots, both outside and inside the hot air balloon! Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana designed a floral altar installation in whites, blush and beige florals directly on the hot air balloon basket for some great bride and groom shots.
In a grassy spot next to the tulip fields, the wedding vendor team staged both sweetheart table and dessert table looks, incorporating vintage furniture, dinner ware, and other rentals by the Portland event rental company Power of Love Rentals. A gorgeous vintage inspired pink wedding cake draped in edible lace and pearls was designed by the Pastry Smith, and Farina Bakery offered delicious rainbow colored macarons. Baby Barrels set up a custom drink station with their unique wooden drink barrels and Blue Bonsai Printing created beautiful wedding paper goods for the vintage wedding editorial shoot featuring a hot air balloon in their wedding invitations. Flowers by Alana laid loose italian ruscus on the sweetheart table, and created small floral accents for wedding cake and among the dessert area.
