In early October, Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana and a team of other talented Oregon wedding professionals gorgeously executed a modern boho wedding for Erin and Joe at The Orchard Hood River. The autumn weather was absolutely beautiful on their wedding day, with clear skies lending to a picturesque view of Mt. Hood.
A modern boho wedding style with natural, classy, and neutral vibes was the chosen vision by the beautiful bride and groom, Erin and Joe. They wanted clean and intentional details, and a soft, neutral palette of white, champagne, soft peach, terra cotta, and olive greenery for their florals and decor. The planning and coordinating of the modern boho wedding were led by Stephanie of Union Event Co, who is always a pleasure to work with, with her acute attention to details and high level of professionalism coordinating events to run smoothly. All the gorgeous wedding photography and videography were by Krysta and Nick, a talented husband and wife duo based in Portland.
The Orchard Hood River is located in the Hood River Valley surrounded by fruit orchards and stunning views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. One of my absolute favorite Oregon wedding venues to design for, The Orchard Hood River was a warm and inviting setting for this modern boho wedding, with its perfectly manicured ceremony lawn encircled by lush hydrangea and lavender plants, and its large, open-air barn full of natural light for reception dining and dancing. Besides the stunning views and elegant aesthetic, weddings at The Orchard also come with access to beautiful craftsman style wooden furniture, like long farm tables, cross back dining chairs and ceremony benches, and are catered in-house by Celilo Catering, which focuses on farm to table, high quality locally grown ingredients by award winning chef and owner of Celilo Restaurant and Bar, Ben Stenn.
With views of the surrounding orchards and mountains, Erin and Joe held their ceremony on the lawn with a ground floral nest altar designed by Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana. Ground floral nests are great alternatives to wedding arches, because they create an intimate altar space with beautiful flowers without hiding the view, and without needing to rent or build an arbor structure. The ground floral nest was designed with peach, terra cotta and blush colored roses and garden roses, peach ranunculus, peegee hydrangeas, eucalyptus, dried thistle, dried and bleached Italian ruscus, and silver poplar branches. With warm, earthy, and neutral colored florals and a mix of textures and heights, the ground floral nest was a wonderful choice for this modern boho wedding.
Erin’s beautiful, modern boho wedding gown, designed exclusively by Anais Annette for A & Bé Bridal Shop was smooth, cream colored crepe with spaghetti straps, a lace back and lace train, and added tulle bridal wings — a fun and fashionable alternative to a veil. Her makeup was done by talented bridal makeup artist Shelby Renee and her updo at Subi Salon in Hood River (color by Kaylee Peterson). Her groom, Joe, and the bridal party wore dark olive suits and bridesmaid dresses in different styles. Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana designed modern boho wedding bouquets for Erin and her bridesmaids in garden roses, specialty roses, dahlias, ranunculus, eucalyptus, dried and bleached Italian ruscus, and mini dried palm fronds in the soft neutral palette.
For Erin and Joe’s modern boho wedding reception, their guest tables were arranged in long farm style tables in front of their long bridal party table, using the venue’s gorgeous craftsman style wooden tables and chairs. On the long farm tables, Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana designed several small modern boho wedding florals set upon a champagne-colored cheese cloth runner. The modern boho wedding centerpieces were designed with specialty roses, ranunculus, dahlias, stock, lisianthus, eucalyptus, and dried florals in the soft neutral wedding palette in hand-painted small white vases. Each place setting had gold silverware, a dark olive-green napkin folded cleanly between two plates, and an arch shaped custom menu for the event.
On the two large white walls of the open-air reception barn, Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana designed greenery installations using Southern Smilax vines. Greenery wall installations create an airy and natural aesthetic, to elevate the walls of a modern boho wedding space. The opposite sides of the barn are open, lending to gorgeous views of the surrounding orchards and Mt. Hood, and bringing in an abundance of natural light.
Erin and Joe’s signage and paper goods were designed by Joe’s friend. Their welcome table held photographs of their parents’ weddings, plus a floral arrangement by Flowers by Alana and an olive green vintage telephone “guest book” ready for guests to lift the receive and leave voice messages for the newly married couple, one of my favorite unique wedding trends! Arch shaped welcome sign and seating chart were lightly decorated with loose eucalyptus for more modern boho wedding touches, keeping with the intention of natural, soft and classy vibes.
