Couple Adventure Session at Cape Kiwanda on the Oregon Coast

A couple adventure session is a professional photoshoot that documents a couple on an adventure in a naturally beautiful outdoor setting. Adventure sessions are great for couples who love going on fun adventurous dates together in the outdoors to appreciate breathtaking and romantic scenery like the ocean, mountain lakes, or hidden waterfalls. Professional photoshoots are a fun adventure in itself, and couple adventure sessions are special way to commemorate and document an engagement, an elopement or micro wedding, a vow renewal, or a wedding anniversary. I was so honored and excited when Jany asked Flowers by Alana to be her wedding florist for her and her husband Daniel’s couple adventure session, which would take place at Cape Kiwanda on the Oregon coast.

Jany and Daniel reside in Miami, Florida, and planned a special trip to the Oregon coast for their fifth wedding anniversary. Their trip included a couple adventure session that would be captured by both a professional wedding photographer and a wedding videographer. Photographing the couple adventure session was Emily Noelle Photo, an Oregon elopement photographer who specializes in photographing adventure elopements and intimate weddings, as well as adventure senior portraits. Wedding elopement videographer Emma K Films captured the couple adventure session on video. Jany is a talented professional bridal hair stylist in Miami and did her own makeup and hair, using Bellami hair extensions. She wore a long, bell-sleeved, lace bridal gown by Lulu’s. Flowers by Alana designed a boho bridal bouquet and groom’s boutonniere for Jany and Daniel’s couple adventure session.

Jany and Daniel’s couple adventure session took place at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, Oregon. As part of the Three Capes Scenic Route that also includes Cape Lookout and Cape Meare, Cape Kiwanda has stunning sandstone cliffs, sweeping sand dunes, views of Haystock Rock, and vast and breathtaking sea views of the Pacific Ocean. It’s definitely a dreamy and romantic spot, and perfect for a couple adventure session at the Oregon Coast. Jany and Daniel prepared for their photoshoot and lodged at the Headlands Coastal Lodge and Spa, which is located in the Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area.

Jany discovered Flowers by Alana on Instagram after seeing some of our boho bridal bouquets from past styled shoots, like the Brent Family Farm shoot that was published by Oregon Bride Magazine, and a boho luxe elopement shoot at Latourell Falls. Jany shared her vision of the photoshoot with Flowers by Alana, and ordered a boho bouquet and matching boutonniere with burnt orange and wine tones. Along with sharing her vision, she sent several inspiration photos of boho bouquets she liked that included king protea, pampas grass, and floral elements that had been dried and bleached white. Bohemian bridal bouquets are usually large in size with lots of texture and movement, incorporate a mixture of fresh and dried flowers in earthy tones, and often include large unique flowers like king protea.

Flowers by Alana designed Jany’s boho bridal bouquet using peach “Juliet” garden roses, burnt orange “free spirit” garden roses, burgundy ranunculus, a large blush pink and white king protea, white viburnum, dried pampas grass, preserved (and bleached white) italian ruscus, and deep wine colored agonis greenery. Daniel’s boutonniere was designed with a Juliet peach garden rose, burgundy ranunculus, agonis, viburnum, pampas grass and bleached italian ruscus. Both the boutonniere and the bouquet were wrapped with a raw silk burnt orange ribbon, and Jany’s bouquet was also tied with a long trailing ribbon of the same burnt orange raw silk ribbon.
