All things citrus was our inspiration for this vintage summer wedding styled shoot at Overlook at Prindle Mountain, a wedding venue located in Washougal, Washington. Less than an hour drive from Portland, Oregon, the outdoor wedding venue is situated with five acres on a private cliffside property with an absolutely breathtaking view of the Columbia River Gorge. Its perfect for couples wanting their outdoor wedding surrounded by the beauty and natural scenery of the Pacific Northwest.
This citrus themed vintage summer wedding styled shoot was dreamed up and coordinated by my friend and fellow wedding professional Grace Roth of Acute Lens Photography and Events. Grace and I started our friendship collaborating on several styled shoots together, like this Romantic Chapel Wedding and this Jewel-toned Wedding Styled Shoot at Eola Hills. I was honored to be asked to do florals for her citrus themed styled shoot idea, and was excited to work alongside several other talented wedding professionals bringing her ideas to life.
For this blog post, all the photos are by talented wedding photographer Alisha of Alisha Hale Photography. Alisha and I have also had the opportunity to collaborate on other styled shoots, including the Jewel-toned Styled Shoot at Eola Hills. Other photographers for this vintage summer wedding shoot included Giselle of Luna Harvest Photography, Grace of Acute Lens Photography, and Emily of Photography by EH.
Our models for the shoot were real couple Tabitha & Austin. Tabitha wore two different vintage inspired bridal gowns from Heavenly Bridal Boutique, a bridal shop in Canby, Oregon. Her bridal hair and makeup were done by the talented bridal makeup artist Scottie of Skin by Scottie. Among the several staged areas of our shoot included a woodsy natural area showcasing a vintage wooden buggy owned by Overlook at Prindle Mountain, perfect for our vintage summer wedding theme! I had a lot of fun installing floral installations on this incredibly cool old restored buggy!
Portland wedding florist, Flowers by Alana did all the florals for the citrus and vintage summer wedding styled shoot. Shopping the wholesale flower market early the day of the shoot and primarily supporting local flower farms, I picked up citrus colored locally grown flowers from Peterkort Roses, Petals & Pottery, J. Foss Garden Flowers, Fawn Lily Farm, Indigo Gardens, and DVF. Flowers for the shoot included roses, garden roses, dahlias, stock, coreopsis, hypericum, gladiola, hydrangea, eucalyptus, and orange tree foliage. Flowers by Alana loves focusing on local and sustainably grown flowers for weddings and styled shoots! Summer is an amazing time for locally grown floral abundance!
A beautiful reception tablescape was staged on a grassy area at Prindle Mountain. The table was borrowed from Country Garden Tables, who handcrafts and rents their elegant, farm style wooden tables for weddings and events in the Portland area. Other shoots I’ve collaborated with Country Garden Tables include a Winery and Vineyard Styled Shoot at Heisen House.
Atop the wooden table, I laid an overly long white chiffon drape along the length of the table and two gold Harlow stands that suspended elevated floral centerpieces. The table was set with vintage transparent glass goblets in citrus colors, vintage dishes, silverware, and napkins all borrowed from Setting the Table Rentals. Citrus themed wedding invitations were beautifully designed by the talented wedding stationer Karin of Blue Bonsai Printing. Karin and I have worked alongside each other in several other shoots including the Bohemian Wedding at Brent Family Farm.
Desserts featured in the citrus wedding styled shoot included Crave Mini Donuts and a beautiful (and delicious!) single tier wedding cake completely covered with real slices of lemons, limes, oranges, and grapefruits by The Dolce Corner. We also did a different dessert look and had the awesome local boozy popsicle company Sloshy Pops join us! Sloshy Pops are delicious hand-made popsicles focusing on local fresh ingredients and shots of real liquor! I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Sloshy Pops at other shoots, including a Boho Elopement Styled Shoot at Trillium Lake! Big perk of collaborating with Sloshy Pops is after we take lots of shots (the photo kind), we get to take the other kind of shots and try her many delicious flavors of boozy popsicles!
Our final staged area of the vintage summer wedding styled shoot was the gorgeous overlook, capturing the stunning view of the Columbia River Gorge. The elevated table arrangements on Harlow Stands were repurposed to be ceremony altar stands, bringing just a touch of décor to the naturally perfect ceremony setting.
